PC shutdown after overclocking memory

Thread Starter
My PC shuts down if I overclock my memory from 1333 to 1600, this happens after a few minutes of gameplay, is this a normal behaviour when overclocking memory too high? At first I thought it was a power outage.

Yes it is possible for a PC to shutdown if the Memory is OCed too high,

Sometimes instability only shows up after a while, like 10min into a game, or 10min into a stresstest.

Be glad it didn't mess up something with your OS... That happened to me. Pushed my memory up from 2133 to 2400... After the first reset it killed something in the file system. BSOD even after taking all my BIOS settings to defaults. Luckily I keep regular backups, could revert to an image an hour before the crash tongue.gif
