Questions about H60 block

Thread Starter
I bought two of the rebranded H60 units cheap and I was going to use them for my graphics cards. Down the road I was going to add a pump and more rads onto the loop after dissembling the H60 units. my question is will using the existing H60 blocks affect my flow or added pump severely? Is it a better idea to grab universal blocks for the graphics cards? I have no intention of buying full cover blocks since my graphics cards will be updated in the near future. Thanks for the help in advance.

Just take the impellers out, I did this with mine just last night.

There are four screws in the sides of the block, take those out then pop the lid. Then remove the four screws on the edge of the pump, pull the impeller off and out (save it for later), then screw the pump back together, then put the 3 pin wire inside the pump, you can literally put the whole thing in there (in case you need to run the pump in a later setup) then place the top back on and replace the 4 black screws. Then you have a nice cheap waterblock.

I am also rigging a 92mm fan on to the back of my card with some zip ties, it fits very nice.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't even consider i could just take the impeller out to reduce the restriction. I'm torn between waiting on the brackets at triptcc.com to come back into stock (I think it's Dwood who makes them?) I'm a little iffy on the ziptie method, is it stable?

I haven't ran with them on yet, but it will be stable enough. A heatsink doesn't need to be crushingly tight, it just needs good stable contact, which I think is doable.

You will need copper shims for the 7900 series though, not sure what cards you are putting them on.
