Monitor for new build with GTX 670 FTW

Thread Starter
I am looking for a new monitor for a build with a 670 FTW in it. Currently the price range is around this monitor. I know that there are probably way better alternatives for similar money and know of no better place to come for a recommendation. I know that I purchased a pretty overpriced and under performing monitor my first time around before knowing about this forum and would love to hear what others suggest.

New, those are both upgrades in that price range. One has more fluid motion, the other more vivid colors and better viewing angles.

In my mind, there are basically 3 tiers of monitors: $120-$250 basic 60hz, 1080p TN monitors. A few use cheap IPS or MVA panels, and that Hans is the only 120hz one I know of.

Above that, you have the $300-$400 2560x1440, 90hz+ Korean IPS monitors. They're bargains, and make pretty much everything else but in that price range irrelevant, though 120hz lightboost monitors might be an exception.

Then you have the $600+ Professional monitors, with much more accurate colors, longer warranties, more input options, and very expensive brand stickers.

A 670 belongs with one of the Korean monitors IMHO (If I could make the choice, I'd never trade my 1440p monitor for a better GPU than my aging 6850s). But either of those 2 would look just fine.

EDIT: Also, I've always wanted a K9WX... how is it?

I love this case haha. It is nice to look at and has lots of space if you don't load your case with garbage. Air flow is pretty good with idle temps at about 30 for cpu and gpu. The window is clean in appearance though I have seen better. The case itself is really good for air only though; it could be modded for basic watercooling.

I have owned two of these cases for around 2 years and am ready to move onto something else. I am really anticipating what Corsair comes out with next after the 350d being released. A midtower with that style and functionality would be exactly what I am looking for.

As for those monitors, I would almost suggest the 120hz monitor over the others since this is gaming at 1080p and not a higher resolution. The 670 ftw will push frames in most games up near that with modest to high settings. I wonder how much difference the coloring is between the two monitors.

Down to the last day to wait on ordering a monitor. I am personally leaning towards telling him to get the 120hz 1080p as that is a good standard for high frames and most games. Only two were posted so far, was wondering if anyone else had a suggestion.

If you want 120Hz 1080p go with the Asus VG248QE.

If you want to spend more for 120Hz 1440p go with the Qnix QX2710.

Out of the price range of the original monitor listed. The Korean monitor is also out of the price range listed and would be something I would consider for my personal build, not something for someones first build.
