Cool. I didn't know we had an HQ in Canada. I'm in the RTP main HQ that's why I was asking. thumb.gif

Sorry to hear that. My T410 has been running non-stop since Sep 2011. I've dropped it several times, and the hard drive refuses to quit. It's my daily pony, I ride it to death 8 hours a day. It's never had a single issue. I'm due for a new laptop, but I refuse to get a new one simply because I'm so attached to mine. tongue.gif

We are actually working very hard to address the Services and Support from both physical interactions like RMA processing to the very Support website that millions of users visit every day. There's a lot of work going in the background and it will come to fruition in the months to come.

I see plenty of Lenovos at my university, though you aren't wrong about HP, Dell, and Macbooks. There are also a few Toshiba, Acer, and Asus laptops to be seen.

No, you misunderstand me. 3 years ago when we got them they weren't. We get new models every year, and the laptops are new, not refurbished. I am using the T410's an example of the headache Thinkpads can be at times. We get T430's now which have their own issues, but albeit not like the T410's.

Consider yourself lucky. My work T410, I have had since September 2010. I had to RMA that for fan error about a year and a half ago. Company has 3 year warranties on all our laptops.

And it hasn't happened for a bit, but I have replaced far too many hard drives for drops. Some not even that big of drops.

I don't know what's so different about OCN and the hundreds of Thinkpads I work on each year that our company has. I want whatever Thinkpads OCN people are getting lol.

My school is IBM affiliated and we're full on Lenovo. Most of our students use it, ALL of our lab machines and faculty machines are Lenovo, and I got Lenovo Technician certified for it.
I never really looked at Lenovo before, but now I see it ~everywhere~ even outside of school. Their laptops are super solid, priced pretty decent, and really are reliable. Their desktops have seen better revisions here and there, but overall the quality is superb. I've seen some smashed up Thinkpads that still chug pretty well. Its almost always the hard drive that has an issue if anything.

These machines are perfect for businesses especially because they are SO easy to troubleshoot and repair. Completely straightforward and no fuss.

Maybe its just my school because we're so tied into Lenovo & IBM, but we get replacement parts next day practically. They are super on the ball.

This is true. Lenovo is very good about doing our RMA's in a very timely manner. Parts show up next day, and laptops we have to send off are usually back in 2-3 days. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with whatever warranty deal you have going on.

I will say this about Thinkpads. They are definitely built better than the run of the mill laptops out there. While I've had to replace tons of hard drives for drops, the laptop chassis themselves except for a few situations, survived with little to no indication it ever dropped. And I've never had problems like cracking screen hinges or anything like that. I can give Lenovo props for that much.

I LOVE my Lenovo Y430 Ideapad. I am using it now! I have a broken usb from dropping it off the table with a thumb drive in it. I replaced the hard drive with a 240 GB SSD, and I pulled out the DVD burner, and put a 250 GB spinning drive in there with a tray I got from ebay. I also had to replace the keyboard, only because my 2 year old at the time got the w key broke in. It still worked until I replaced it, Just didn't spring back up. I also must mention IBM / Lenovo have the best laptop keyboards I have ever used.

I have had mine since 2007 and I bring it just about everywhere I go. I am not gentle with it at all neither is my now 3yr old. It does everything I ask it to do, with no problems aside from playing games. (not a gaming machine anyways, although I have played hour on hours of Diablo 2 on it) I have zero complaints and I recommend Lenovo to anyone who ask my opinion.
It is not nearly as fast as my OCed 4770K running 4.5 GHz I also don't expect it to compete. My only real complaint is the ethernet jack is only 10/100, when I move big data across my network to or from my y430 its a bit slow. (every monday I put a HD move on it to watch while at work) This is just my two cents, my heart belongs with lenovo for laptops. And it has easily outlasted the alienware laptop it replaced was always RMAing parts off that. DVD burner a few times video card at least 3 times then CPU started going out I just put it in the trash can. All that in like 4 years. And when you travel state to state every few weeks, never knowing where you will be sent, It's a pain in the @ss to rma parts. Again just my 2 cents. biggrin.gif
