Should I take advantage of this clearance deal?

So I've been keeping an eye out for a 120hz monitor for some time but haven't found anything under $300 until now and i have a few questions about the following monitor:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_1195_699_292&item_id=032642

1)Is this a good deal?
2)would this be a significant upgrade over my current monitor? (ASUS vh242h)
3)would the 3d vision work with my ATI GPU? (6970) - this isn't a deal breaker as i'm mainly interested because it's 120hz.

some additional info:
- I will most likely upgrade my gpu once the new ati cards come out. I'm not set on ati but i figure i can get better value once there is more competition.
- games that I play: counter strike, CoH2, other FPS

Thanks in advance!

1) $248 is good for 120Hz monitor in Canada.
2) Probably yes, your VH242H is good.
3) No it won't.

I do highly recommend getting the VG248QE instead of VG236H, because the VG248QE ($299 at Canada Computers) has the LightBoost feature. See 60Hz vs 120Hz vs LightBoost.

EDIT: I just realized it's $50 off at the moment. $250 Canadian LightBoost at Canada Computers -- sale until July 14, 2013. Not bad for a local computer store in Toronto!

The VG236H's 2D colors are easily better than the VG248QE's, but a 6970 is to slow to make a 120hz-144hz or Lightboost display worthwhile. Get an IPS panel (The LG 23EA63V is the best around 250$) and overclock it to 75hz.

Color wise the VG248QE willl likely be equal or worse vs. the VH242 and will definitely be much worse once Lightboost is enabled. It's hard to find a monitor with worse color quality these days vs. the VG248QE when Lightboost is enabled.

Even if you plan to upgrade in the future it just isn't worth while to get a 120hz display now. Might as well wait and see if better Lightboost capable monitors come out since the VG248QE's Lightboost colors are so abysmal

the 6970 can keep counter strike global offensive at over 150 fps which is what i'll mainly be using it for and once new cards and next console gen games start coming out i'll be upgrading anyways. For those reasons i'm going to stick with a tn panel for now.

Why do you say the vg236h has better colours? i've read that both asus monitors have slightly vibrant greens but that's about all I know right now.
