Benchmark - gaming performance relation

Hey, the rig you can find in my sig is coming pretty soon - by monday actually, and i've just learned it scores 26050 in 3dmark11 performance.

I have a few questions, your opinion actually matters a lot. Joined OCN not even a month ago and i've learned so much it's pretty awsome.

- I've read benching on windows 8 can get between 5%-15% difference compared to the same rig benched with windows 7, can you guys confirm this ?

-I'm not really interested in benching at all per se. I want the best performance in game, not in benchs.

The only thing i should probably overclock a bit more would be the 3 titans and they're already running at around 1150mhz. Overclocking past 4,8ghz i'll make 0 (not even 1 fps) difference in games, same goes for the whole ram thing, unless i'm mistaken, can you guys confirm this?

What I'm trying to know is wether or not there will be any difference FPS-wise ingame between my rig at 2600(2800if i'm going to win7 with a bit of luck, but then again win8 fps-wise is faster if anything than win7 in games) in 3d mark or my rig at 3k in 3d mark, or if games don't really care at all (and i mean like 0,5fps or even lower) if my ram clocks at 1866 or 2400mhz.

On the other hand if you're saying having +3000 points in 3dmark will make a diff in my fps in games, guess i'm in for some work : P

(i'm not settled on the screen yet, may got for 120hz surround later on, so any fps past 60 will eventually be appreciated)

looking forward to your answers, please apologise for the bad english

Hello,

Benching and gaming are a little hand in hand. If you like gaming, you should like benching....its also a little competitive , if you have the money, which it seems you do biggrin.gif
If it's just about gaming, at a certain point , you can't even tell the difference.....really! At a certain point, the fps is just noise...it's not going to make the game look any better. The game is pretty much capped with the detail...some high ends, you'll even see them over detail the graphics.

I would think if you had 3 titians, you should be nailed at 300 fps for almost anything.....but what do I know....lol

As far as as overclocking...I only notice things load faster, and click faster... not any 5 to 10 frames gained like I first read about....but it seems to really help loading screens.

The thing that's perked my interest about your post is....You have a computer that has posted way over 30000 on 3dmark. And if it's is a test we can all run that test even little things with the fine arts of cards and chips, and even a little motherboard, wouldn't you want to? I mean it does kind of spell speed in tech terms, no matter what one single game will do on your computer.

On the win 7 or 8 note....I would respect a score with windows 8 more...even with a lower score....time marches on, even if it sucks to do so. Would you be impressed with someone still benching on windows 95? I mean it would be cool, but....impressive?

Is there any way to increase my 24/7 3d mark score appart from selling the ram go for 8 or 16go and try to have some more luck with the overclocking ? My ram atm only boots with 1866, guess 32go is just too much.

Either that or wait for ivy-E tongue.gif

I mean i can also switch to win7, sell my phoebus and get a 4th titan but if the only thing i'm doing is gaming, seems a bit sensless mad.gif
