3x1 Eyefinity OR 1 instead of 3x1 Eyefinity + 1?

Hi all, this is probably a rookie question but I suppose that might describe me accurately. Here's the deal: I have a windows 8 gaming pc (with an AMD card in it) that I would like to use with 2 different setups I have. The reason is this: i have a 3x 1280x1024 triple monitor setup that I enjoy for pc gaming and such, but I also have a 40" 1920x1080 hdtv that I would like to use with the pc on occasion, for movies and such. I can configure CCC to allow me to run all 4 displays at once in a 3 + 1 arrangement, with the tv as an extended display, but I want to be able to use it as a primary display (my other monitors not even turned on) when I do use it. I have issues with the 3 + 1 setup, where for example the start screen and other metro apps only display to the eyefinity group and not the extended, and when i click on icons the windows open up into the eyefinity group display (whether they are powered on or not). The only way I have been able to get around this so far is the literally unplug the other three monitors, and then reconfigure CCC every time I change things up, which is far far more hassle than I would wish on anyone, (not to mention my wife wouldn't be able to figure out how to do all that for the times she'll use the pc).

So is there any solution, whether its a certain configuration or settings I'm not aware of, or some software solution that will allow me to display to either the triple eyefinity setup OR the HD display, but NOT both at the same time, aside from physically unplugging things and re-setting up every time?

Thanks!

far as i know there is no solution. windows don't know if you are in the mood for 3+1 or 1 screen only

I only have a dual monitor solution, and what i do is -
  • right click on the desktop
  • select screen resolution
  • make my main (your 40") the main display - now metro apps will show up on this display and windows will open up here.
  • when I am in the mood to game on my other (your eyefinity triple) screen, i make the other screen the main display by clicking on screen resolutions again. so the game will run on that (your eyefinity triple) display.

don't forget to make the 40" your main again after you are done gaming.
a lot of hassle still, but less than unplugging your monitors.
