LGA775 Motherboard with 8GB DDR3 memory and AGP slot

Thread Starter
Alright, so I'm working on upgrading an ancient computer build for a friend since he can't afford a new computer. He has an old gateway with an LGA775 socket intel core duo processor. Its severely choking on the 512MB RAM, and he got 8GB DDR3 ram (2x4) from a friend, but the old mobo only has DDR2. I also have an old AGP graphics card I could put in it, which is pretty decent.

So my question is, is there a motherboard out there with an LGA775 socket, with 8GB worth of DDR3 RAM, with an AGP slot?

Well, I doubt it because by the time DDR3 came out, the AGP slot was long gone.

Which operating system is he using? I'm hoping it's XP because it's lighter on the system than Windows 7. However, his computer would run much faster and better on Linux.

It's a computer!

I would just get a budget haswell build. and be done. If your dead set on using the s775 processor, then getting a board that supports that processor and DDR3 is not too hard, then you will just need to get a cheap pcie video card. How much are you willing too spend?
