Not with Balmer at the helm. In 5 years, Windows presence in the consumer market will be laughable. They are lucky enterprise users are so conservative but I wouldn't put it past Google (with a version of chrome OS or droid) or IBM (with their special linux distributions) to take Microsoft out.
The PC monopoly is dying.
As for the main object of the title, the Wii U is massively overpriced. It's the same power as the 360 and PS3 and yet costs way more? The Wii U is an abysmal failure and will stay that way. By far, the most important third-party in the US is EA as the sports franchises are huge to the success of any console and they aren't bothering with Nintendo anytime soon. Most third parties stopped bothering with Nintendo even with the huge sales of the Wii because the audience they had was mainly casuals or Nintendo hardcore; both of which only bought Nintendo games (if any games after Wii Sports). When are they going to come back now with terrible Wii U sales?
I'll get a Wii U if the next Zelda is any good (i.e. not a cheap cash-in like wind waker) or if they actually do a good job with the next super smash brothers (hugely doubt it after the complete middle finger they gave to fans of the first franchise). Nintendo priced themselves out of the casual market this generation. Wii U is basically a gamecube if even that (price is still way too high).
