Which monitor would be better for 720p gaming? 1440x900 or 1920x1080

I'm planning to get a new monitor but cannot support the full HD gaming. Jamaica has a terrible imbalance when it comes to computer hardware. You are considered having the best hardware on the planet if you have an i5 CPU coupled with a H61 motherboard and a HD 6570 GPU -____- (I hate this third world country), so proper hardware for 1080p gaming is impossible for current titles, yet there are plenty 1080p monitors selling like wildfire here. If I'm lucky, I may can find a 1440x900 monitor. But what I want to know is, if I got the easily available 1080p monitor versus the hard to find 1440x900 monitor, which would show 720p resolution better?

I would say the 1080p would look better. With your HD 6570, you would get better performance.
