I'd like everyone's opinion on this. I'm sure there are a ton of people in my position right now who just don't know what to do.

The predicament lies in the fact that Crossfire is not yet as smooth as SLI. The prototype drivers tested by pcper showed HUGE improvements, so it's safe to say the fix coming July 31'st will work well.

For the sake of the poll, lets assume that the 9970 will perform right on par with the 780. Lets also assume that it will cost the same or slightly less than a 780.

I already have an early Gigabyte 7950 (voltage unlocked 6+6 power), and I could get another for as little as $250.

I'm able to play BF3 @ 1440p, fps anywhere from 60 to 100+, averaging at 75. Settings are Ultra for everything except for Shadows on Low. No AA, Post AA, or Ambient Occlusion. Sweetfx just for SMAA.
Current card is at 1100 core and 1350 Memory.

I'd love to hear what everyone has to say about these choices. Please post reasoning behind your vote, lets start an informative discussion.

Hey man.

I think the HD 9970 will be around the GTX 780 and GTX Titan performance for the price of around 600$.

In this case, if you plan on waiting for the CrossFire fix I think you would be much better with HD 7950 CrossFire. It will give better performance than a GTX 780 or HD 9970 for sure. You can also pair a HD 7970 with your HD 7950. If you plan on going green team, the only card you should get is GTX 780. The GTX 770 or GTX 760 will bring absolutely NO benefit from HD 7950/7970 Crossfire.

I have a powercolor 7950 stock 880MHz and a gigabyte 7950 stock 900MHz. In most games I own they work great in, and it just so happens they are older games that don't need anywhere near the power of 7950 CF even at 2560x1600

The games I have headaches with are Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution and BF3. Game coding problems aside, I would really need another rig to slap these 2 cards into to see if I get the same problems.

Its hit and miss
