Need some help overclocking a 3 titan beauty - first time OC

Hey, just recieved my dream rig today (it's the rig in my sig), and there is a slight disapointement. Company building it told me the 3 titans would be OC'd to 1284 as they get 1284mhz in enigine valley, but in gpu-z the gpu clock is shown as 965, which is far from what they told me. They only used MSI afterburner.
Now it appears enigine valley is far off with what they say whenever there is 2+ cards, so i'm guess i'm only OC'ed at 965.
As a result my 3dmark 11 score is only 2602 - that's windows 8 so it's expected to be lower apparently.

Now, the 3 cards are watercooled with 720mm worth of rads with a loop of their own, so i think i should be able to push them a bit further than 965mhz. With that setting the cards don't go over 45° in crysis3 sessions - i think that leave me some room to OC more, am i right?

My goal is to have a 24/7 OC on those cards, and i'll only be doing gaming, won't wander in benchs for days - not because i dont find it interesting, just won't have time to do both biggrin.gif

What should i do to overclock the cards so i can have a "stable daily overclock" and have a good 3k mark 11 score as well.
They said they used MSI afterburner, but from reading forums left and right the OC with this thing is a bit ****ed because of GPU boost, and the only "proper" way to do it is to flash the bios. Is that right ?

If it is what's the best flashed bios i can get? Is it possible to flash it and reverse the flash if the card burns out or something(i've got 3 years warranty on the whole rig). Is there a way to have the card stables at around 1100Mhz non stop (so my 3d mark score goes up, and in games aswell) without flashing the bios - which would be my prefered way to go obviously

Hope you can help a noob get better ! looking forward to your replies

cheers

The cards will not run at their max boost until pushed. Fire up after burner and play a game or run the valley benchmark again. The on screen display will show you what your OC is at. No need to flash the bios let them clock down when they are just sitting there/browsing the web etc. Rig looks pretty sweet if its the one in your avatar. Care to share what they charged you for all that?

Alright yea, I went through 700 pages of the Titan's owned thread here in OCN, and it turns out my best option is to just push the cards to the max with "normal" overclocking and just skip the bios option altogether, really not taking my chances with 3k euros worth of gpu under water.
There is apparently an 265w TDP limit with stock bios, the card gives no **** and will start throttling even if you're at 40°.
The modded bios gets you between 1150-1200mhz anyway so it's little difference between that and normal OC, it would just get rid of the throttling - which i would hardly if not at all notice in game anyway. And hey, here's to hopping they release an official bios update !
Last score is 2733 in 3d mark Performance, hopefully i can break 30k with those 150-200 extra mhz biggrin.gif

They charged 600 euros for :

-installing every components
-installing watercooling dual loop
-installing OS
-installing 2 LEDS
-tweaking PSU so everything fits
-flashing mobo/hard drive/set everything up to date
-overclock to 4,9ghz (1,4vcore 24/7)
-they tried to OC the ram, couldnt go past 1866
-overclock the titan (Even tho they stopped at those mhz because they thought valley was accurate, and they thought 1284 was already quite good - which wouldve been right if it werent for valley's missread. Those guy even told me quite frankly that they just didnt have enough time to wander in the forums so it's no surprise they werent aware of the unique titan behavior regarding overclocking, +rep for being honest)
-cable sleeving

Then another 150 euros for 3 years warranty

Pretty decent thumb.gif, they shop worldwide so it's quite an awsome deal for anyone in europe - and it's not like there is any other option if you want to buy a built-in wc in europe. If you're interested its a shop i strongly recommend. Here are some pics if you want to see more of it https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.623773690975437.1073741837.116401015046043&type=1

Component is among the lowest i can get in france, which is still a rip off thanks to taxes, but what can you do tongue.gif

---

I'm now looking for the best settings to use watercooled titans with evga precision X or something alike. Should i set the temp to 90° target or leave it ? What about the fan speed , max or auto? Should i up the voltage or does it throttle too much and causes more issues than anything else ?

thanks thumb.gif

I don't have titans but have had multiple keplar cards. I would raise temp target. Not sure it really does anything. Fan speed means nothing now you have removed them and replaced with water blocks. You should be cooling the radiator fans elsewhere, if they set it up with that capability.

I know the 7xx series cards allow for a slight voltage bump, you probably won't need it but it nvidia has been careful with these cards so it should be safe. If you really just have the one 1440p monitor I can't see anything that could push these cards enough to make them throttle.

Again I have no experience with a Titan this is just going off my experience with recent nvidia cards.
