Help with divider Athlon 64 4000

Thread Starter
I just built a system and I started to OC. I'm at 213 X12 2559mhz.I reduced the HT bus to 4X = 852. It's running stable at 30-31deg ran prime no errors. My question is my ram freq keeps going up each time I increase. It's at 142mhz now.I'm asuming I should be capping that?I read about divider but not sure about it. I put the ram to manual in bios at 266mhz but that didn't do anything still kept going up a little bit? This is my first oc. Thanks

If you read through this guide it will help you to understand things more clearly...Your ram increases accordingly with the cpu...For the rig you are running you really should think of getting a good set of atleast 2x512 of ddr 400 or ddr500...But until you reach instability then...You are ok at running it at 266....You may need to adjust your timings and/or up the voltage on the ram a bit..How did you end up with PC2100??

The pc2100 is from my old Socket A.I'm slowly upgrading,I have a new 320 seagate sata 300 on the way and the last thing I have to get will be the ram.So you think I should just keep uping the the fsb till it crashes?

Well worst case scenario is you have to reset the bios or it wont boot...But with that ram seems like you should go a lil' ways with it..Set it to 100 instead of 133 and see how far you can get...

You can definately go farther with that CPU. Just put the ram on a 2:1 divider or 100 whichever system your BIOS uses and pump up that FSB.
