RAID0 setup without Windows reinstall. Good idea?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm running a system with 2x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drives. I bought one after the other so I never really installed them together, hence not having them in RAID0. I was able to switch from AMD to Intel mobos/CPUs without a reinstall pretty easily, and there weren't any drawbacks of doing so. I have a tonne of stuff on my PC that is bit hard to get from external to internal drives and requires a lot of time installing. I would really like to maybe move to a RAID0 setup with my two drives but apart from it being worth it, I don't really have an external HDD big enough to create a system image of my OS drive with all my stuff to. Would you guys advise against or for configuring a RAID0 setup in this circumstance, and would there be any drawbacks or major advantages? My system isn't slow. I boot in probably just under 30 seconds, I'm just looking a little bit more maybe in the application loading side of things if it's an accessible and easy solution.

Cheers.

If you could find a way to add the drives to an array and retain the data, I would be impressed.

Usually for making these types of moves you will have to store your image somewhere else, and then apply it back to the array once it's established.

Best thing to do is SSD.

Second best is by using intel Rapid Storage Tech control center and migrate to a RAID 0 array from your non raid config. You have to make sure the sata mode is changed to RAID first.

Check my RAID set up guide in the stickies.
