I buy AMD because I like the company. Can i afford Intel? The answer is yes. Not everyone who buys AMD is living in a van down by the river. If you are old enough to know what I mean. I've bought Intel in the past and I have even bought Cyrix back in the 6X86 days.(Not saying that wasn't a budget chip just saying I have owned a cpu from just about every X86 CPU company out there) Man those things could OC. Also not everybody purely games on their computers either. There are some nice highly threaded programs that I use and AMD just made sense. My chip just does everything I need it to do and then some.
The thing is the generalization that all AMD owners are cheap and just can't afford a computer that is worth more than the $500 car they drive is just as bad as saying Intel people have no morals for buying from a company that has been guilty of numerous antitrust crimes. I say neither, I can afford Intel and just choose not to. It doesn't make me angry when people say Intel is better because it is. It also doesn't make me angry when I get questioned on my judgement it just makes me question why people hate on companies so much.
On Topic: Personally I get quite tired of this argument. Nobody cared when Intel charged absorbent amounts of money for the crappy P4s that were slower back in the day. These threads are tired and old. If you don't like the price then don't buy one. I don't like the price and guess what. I am not buying one. Companies can charge whatever they want for product X. It is we who get to choose if it is a worthy price or not. So in closing, If you feel that the price is one that is not worthy of the chip don't buy one and stop complaining as I feel some goofus person out there will find the $353 one quite attractive.
Not I says the pig.
