Can overclocking a GPU (GTX680) cause instability with browsers like firefox and crashes?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I'm currently overclocking my GTX680. I had a +175Mhz on the core clock and was able to run kombustor and even play BF3 for hours, with no crashes.

However, my firefox would crash, and that has really never happened to me before.

I am aware that the core clock overclock can cause the display driver to crash but could it be causing firefox and my browser to crash?

I need to know to scale the clock back a bit or maybe if something else is the issue?

Please let me know thanks!

Yes over clocking video cards can make your browser act up as well as programs like paint and notepad !

and also things like games , benchmarks the hole 9 yards!!! this apply s to the cpu , ram , graphics card and pretty much anything that over clocks!

hope this helped

If you want to make sure your card is really stable in demanding games and proper desktop usage, dont use Kombustor. it may make your GPU run as hot as it can possibly be, but only stresses a specific part of the gpu core. a better test for proper stability would be to run a demanding benchmark, like Unigine Heaven thumb.gif
