Not even half of ps3's potential? - Page 5

do you really think that the ps3 is being 100% utilized at launch? the games that are out now aren't even pushing it. No, the ps3 will not be able to preform as well as dual 8800GTXs in SLI, but new consoles are never fully utilized at launh, as it takes a while for the developers to learn how to take advantage of the hardware.

With the ps3 this is the case even more so than most consoles, because of the cell processor. The processor is really powerful, but it's hard to code for, and the developers are not used to coding for it yet. The ps3 is probably being more than 50% utilized, but If it's as hard to code for the cell processor as people say it is, I'd say that quote is close to the truth.

The downside for ps3 fans is that by the time they take advantage of the ps3, a decent gaming computer will probably be at least as powerful as the ps3.

This is a bit reminiscent of the saturn, and we all know what happened to that. The true downside for ps3 fans is sony claiming one thing and us seeing quite another. This is just scarily like the saturn.

No, of course not. But that's not what Mr. Sony said. He said that developers will never fully utilize the PS3. Which can mean only one of a handful of things:

1. He thinks developers are too stupid to ever get that good with the PS3
2. It is flat-out impossible to fully utilize all of the PS3, a tacit admission that what they have said the PS3 can do is not really possible
3. He thinks the PS3 is alive and will keep growing in power as fast as developers learn its amazing power

Now, since I do think that Sony has turned into a company of complete morons, #3 is only half joking. I would wager that some idiot over there actually thinks crazy stuff like that...

Fun read.

Have a big PS3 Fanboi friend and he insists that the PS3 is 5x more powerfull then the 360. I try to explain it to him over and over and he just says no...

The GPU in the 360 is faster and better then the PS3s...
The PS3 processor has the potential to be just a touch faster then the 360's, and I highly doubt that potential will be reached within three years...

Sony was stupid for trying to use breakthrough hardware for a GAMING console...

And BTW, I played that offroad racing game in Gamestop...and it is a BLAST...but if only half the PS3's potential has been reached, then why is it lagging?

I vote hes a moron
