Asus GTX 770 DCUii with Maximus V Extreme Hotwire - Page 12

Ok I GOT SOME RESULTS wheee.gif
I managed to boot into windows with 1.48v on GPU consistently and hold 1.48v while benching biggrin.gif

I set the pot to 5k just an idea for someone if you want to just us a plug to be able to unplug the pot to use default voltage and 2foot lead so you can adjust outside of case.

I just used the extra 2pin plug for the earth

after setting voltage to 1.4v on load I measured the resistance thinking.gif I would suggest to anyone who want to try this to use a 1k or 2k I have no idea why anyone would suggest a 5k or 20k it is way out of the ball park.

Any way I found that my voltage fluctuated crazily I used the multi meter to ensure accurate readings, I set 1.4v I would get 1.38-1.42v
Any way putting that aside I thought I would try valley for a bench I generated crazy heat so I 24v my D5 to try counter this and moved my PC closer to the outside door way.
I tried for a 1450Mhz @ 1.4v remembering I can bench 1437Mhz @ 1.35v I crashed and after a while it became clear to me after 1.35v you seem to just generate a lot more heat and hit a wall so I gave up before I broke something I had some funky crashes where I thought fingers crossed it is going to post this time.
Kamikaze PC lives to fly another day smile.gif

Well Feznz, you surely gave it a great try! Im just puzzled why voltage fluctuates so much. I used 16g wire and soldered them all in place, not sure if that made any difference. I have not soldered the resistors for the power mod I think you mentioned but Im not sure how that could make a difference for the worse.

I read the post from the other thread so figure I would comment here, Im guessing I do have a bit of a golden gpu, the extra voltage seems to be killing my overclock on stock voltage settings though. I tried 1320mhz earlier today and it seemed to have a direct x crash on bf3. I used to be able to game at 1345mhz on 1.200 (1.212 actual with meter) but ran it at 1320 to be safe.

So for my self, I just wonder if I should ignore that and keep gaming at 1.39v until she dies or play it safe and stick to lower settings, that is the question. Max temps dont exceed 56c, only 4-5c hotter than stock voltages

66Racer if you don't mind blowing up your card in probably 12months or less then go hard its probably going to be worth next to nothing in 12 months anyway hopefully if AMD can come out with killer cards to kill NVidias premium pricing

Actually I was wondering if the wattage rating of the Pot mattered I was going to try 1.37-38v but those 20k pots were way too sensitive for me and I was running out of time so I am leading the SLI 770 valley at the moment so I need to save something in reserve wink.gif At least I nailed the Highest CF 7970 valley score biggrin.gif

I contacted Asus to see if they would take a look into the Bios maybe there will be an update just for me biggrin.gif I would like the option of 1.4 - 1.45v even though it seems it may be a little high I could get a brain wave one day and decide to put my rad into an ice bucket for some fun

I will look into the pot for you later today, yeah I figure I usually try a new card every 6mo, lately I have been more conservative so if I get 12mo out of it I would be happy lol.

I usually try to sell a card while there is some value for the new stuff but moding it limits who will want to pay for it...may just give to a friend when im done with it. I try to stay "safe" but electronics you just never know

Ok so getting info on my pot had been harder than I thought. Its a repackaged part for raymond handling but is stamped with PEC canada 1350.

Seems that it could be pecs r series? Appearance matches the one below but with a longer shaft, its also a 13k pot I have.

I wasn't sure about the power limit mod here it is again but note later it is de-soldered.
But on a closer inspection I have noticed another 2 solder points near the core in the test bench there is two wires connected.
I was thinking it could be a power limit or overvoltage protection I have no idea but it does have me thinking headscratch.gif

The soldered resistors in the bottom pic, is that what you did? I havent soldered mine yet since its a pain to get out but if it works it would be worth it.

Ok so the two wires are just for voltage reading. Wonder why he didnt use the asus test points...oh well
