Asus GTX 770 DCUii with Maximus V Extreme Hotwire - Page 5

Actually I fluctuate a lot in voltage I think I am basically 1.35v +/- .01v that is the most so same as you at the moment I like to see if you can get 1.4v.
That is a cool mod but I would personally try to mount it all on the card if possible.
I was going to use one of these types of potentiometer, for when I sell these cards one day.

But I be serious here I actually only use 1.225v @ 1300Mhz for my 24/7 settings
I run 5760x1080 surround and that's where I find the sweet point where I can keep FPS above 60 any higher settings I run out of vram.
the highest I have completed a run of 3dmark11 is 1450Mhz

Yup I am going to mount the lcd on the card along with a toggle switch. They ship from China so its going to take 2 weeks.

I am able to bench at 1.45v. I have an odd problem though.. when the card reaches the high 60s, the power dips down 0.05 and will even go up above what I just had it set at... but the core speed stays the same.

I turned it down to 1.425 and I don't have the problem.. even as the card reaches 70. Didn't have time to find my max core.

NICE thumb.gif

I don't really have the time at the moment but maybe I am going to try a different motherboard Bios
But there was another setting about over voltage in the bios but it was a setting with the warning Use at own risk when the 222mv wasn't enough I just might have to enable that and cross fingers.

I kind of like the convenience of just dialing in the voltage and not having to muck around too much in doing so. With your digital voltage readout that will be pretty awesome.

I assume you are using Asus Tweak to raise the power limiter and temp throttle thresh hold to avoid throttling
I am still using MSI afterburner for the G19 support

I played with my 680 dcII's alot(seem to be identicle)on stock, asx, h70 modded and dice cooling.
1.35v on stock cooling is ok as long as the fans are turned up and not too warm room temps with a h70 on them 1.45-1.47v in a cool room was ok and good for 1480ish benching 1.61 is good for 1700+ on just dry ice -45c or so.

For gaming 1450(h70) is ok 1.45ish tested bf3 for hours and hours and 1.57v is good for 1630ish gaming at -40c temps biggrin.gif

all were over 30 minutes but i cut them down since i suck and were boring

love theses cards

Any of you guys have detailed pics on the asus 770 vmod woth pot? Life is settling back down and think this may be fun. I dont game much so if I kill the card it wont be the end of the world. Would suck to have to get another but I cant help resist to tinker. Only guide I saw was the swiss one.

I only have an h70 plate but goes through a 180mm and 120mm with cpu. Gaming at 1345mhz and 1.200v in 78f ambient peak is 51c but the chary shows its mostly in the 45-48c range. Cooling at 1.3 I imagine ok but not sure how 1.4 would be lol

Those pots would be sweet! I work on forklifts and those pots are used in wire guidance boxes to adjust voltage. What I like about em is it takes a few turns to get decent voltage changes. Havent ohmed out the change in ohm per turn since they are always mounted to live power but I like that idea.

If you use a 10k vr just becarefull when over 1.45ish it will jump alot of voltage with very little turning but its ok if your very gentel on it.
I would use a 5k if you want 1.40-1.50 range or more ......i think 5k puts you at 1.30vish 3d volts dont remember 2d i think its 1.12 or so boot which sould be ok still for most.
now lets see some results guys!!! its so easy to do even for a beginner
biggrin.gif

This is my way of doing it
just used a broken fan and cut the wires and 3 pin off of it,then cut middle wire off leaving a "2 wire pin" that i could just push the two vr's terminals into making it quick connect/disconnect using the two end wholes of the 3pin connecter
you can even use a "conductive pen" to brigde the two pads and use no solder at all by pushing the vgpu wire in the hole marked and the read wire in the whole marked then hold in place with a putty(like used for dice/ln2 waterproofing)or tape but you should solder ground wire on.
if you want to use solder just "tin wires slightly and push thruogh the holes hold iron to the point on the pbc and you should be good,no need to get alot of solder or get sloppy
SOooo you need to have
1, 1 dmm for reading voltage in all stages
2, 10 -20 turn vr you must set to 5kor 10k
3, 3 wires (1 foot long for me since i have no case so its easy for me you may go longer shorter)

My steps are
first to brigde the two pads together with solder or condutive pen
second take off the resister with solder iron(i carefully bust it off with small screwdriver yikes lol)
ok then ready to start adding the vr
set vr(i set a 10k for first boot) make sure you remember which way to turn vr to add or decrease voltage(+- resistance)depends on whioch two terminals you used front two or back two(must NOT be the 2 at the end they MUST be 2 next to each other so either 1-2 or 2-3)
get a wire in the ovg hole(to vr)
you need to connect the other wire that goes to vr to a ground can use many places, easy place is in link above
then you need to have a wire in the gpu read hole(goes to red dmm probe black to any ground link has easy place)so you can read voltage

so now you have three wires connected to pbc 1 in ovg 1 to a ground 1 to the read point gpu

then i just take the vr(you know you just use two terminals you set vr with right)that i set and push the two terminals in the 2 pin connector i made.
you might want to fit it in nice and tape/putty in place

so ok i have vr set wires in proper places dmm all set up to read voltage...time to boot.
so you boot you should see.99ish volts being read on the dmm
turn vr screw slow(yes while booted in 3d is better) and keep an eye on voltage. stop at 1.10V 2d voltage boot up some bench and see voltage in 3d(should be safe even with stock cooling so its ok)it will be around 1.30ish 3d
ok your done... its all cooling on how far you want to go.
if using stock cooler dont go over 1.35v for gaming 1.40 for a bench or two but this is just in genral i dont know if its hell degrees in you cpu room.
vrm temps i had no issues with but i keep thing very cool

cowie +1 for effort some pics would have been nice smile.gif
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1695698 has got some good pics

I modified my solder iron to remove the pgr100 resistor I sharpened the end then bent a little hook made it much easier for me to lever the resistor with the hot iron.

Thanks cowie-

I think im gonna try buying supplies this week and try it when I have free time. Probably next weekend. Is the 770 pcb identical to the 680 one? For resistor purposes?
