Time for an upgrade. looking for opinions :)

Thread Starter
Well i have loved my 1090t but i can no longer put off the upgrade itch. I have been out of the loop for the last 12 months due to a baby being born. having only been given 10 days notice before he was born i had to spend all my savings kiting the house out. but i am off topic. I am not sure what i should be looking at? i have been amd for a few years but i am looking at intel next as from what i remember amd was still behind. i will have about £200 for a cpu and about another £100 for a mobo. will be buying them separately.

is it worth going to bulldozer? will a BD cpu work in my mobo? Crosshair 4 Formula

what sort of intel cpu should i look at?

thank you for your opinions. if it help i will be using it for gaming only (Skyrim, Cod, Kerbal, battlefield and a few others)

thank you

You are definitely going for intel. Far better performance than amd without doubt. Since you want it for gaming get a i5 4670K and Z87 Mobo. This is if you want to overclock, plus you ll need a better cooler than the stock one. If not you can get the non K i5 model and a cheaper z87 mobo and save some cash.

Thanks to noobclocker for this thread and good day to the community.

My PC girlfriend died, been some sad days indeed. I need to replace some parts, motherboard and CPU, because i think those two might be the problem.

I don't have enough money but i would like the best price/performance ratio i could get and using Amazon as price reference:

An FX 6300:
http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-Series-Six-Core-Processor-FD6300WMHKBOX/dp/B009O7YORK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373833808&sr=8-1&keywords=fx+6300

Gigabyte 78lmt:
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-DDR3-Micro-Motherboard-GA-78LMT-USB3/dp/B009FC3YJ8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1373833877&sr=1-1&keywords=gigabyte+78lmt+usb3

Do anyone know of a better combination or has any comments regarding those components? Or should i wait for anything AMD might have for the 3rd cuarter. Really it can be hard but if waiting improves my position i could make a sacrifice.

Would be going from a MSI motherboard and an AMD 705e tri core cpu. Any advice or recommendations would be sincerly apreciated.
