The D600 isn't much more than the 70D or 7D, and a huge step up in image quality. That's why I suggested it. For the record though, I passed on one for the X-Pro and I'm quite happy.

the biggest problem with going fullframe is the price of lenses.

6d
24-70L2
17-40L
70-200L2

is 7536

7d
17-55
10-22
70-200L2
is 5816

the price difference between the 6d and 7d is $500 but the overall price difference $1720....

you dont NEED the mkII version of the 24-70 or 70-200. the mkI version of both of those lenses are still fantastic quality.

I second the D600, if you want to go Cannon, then go with a 6D. Spend the extra bit more for the full frame.

The D600's picture quality is almost on par with the D800 considering they have essentially the same internals. The 24 to 36 MP jump also evens the playing field in terms of noise performance. You could seriously get a D600 with a kit lens (refurbished) for like $1800. Or a D600 with a 50mm prime for like $1500.

The Canon 70d was released yesterday. 8/27/13.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/986389-REG/canon_8469b002_canon_eos_70d_dslr.html

I went ahead and ordered one as i could not buy it locally in my small town. It will arrive next week.
I looked into the 6d and was just not happy with only one cross type focus point. That is one of my main complaints with my current camera.
Watching reviews on the 6d, professionals were getting soft focus at times. I do enough low light photography that i felt i needed more than it could offer. Weighing the larger sensor against the pros of the 70d, the 70d still seems to fit me better.

Also, the more usable iso of any camera will make any upgrade worth it. I get too much grain for me at iso 400 with my old current camera.
I feel pretty confident that this camera will work great for me.

Is anyone else pulling the trigger?

ill be pulling the trigger closer to december. im working for best buy now so i get a discount on the 70D. im mainly waiting until i actually need the camera as i have not been shooting much lately because of work. other than the 70D im picking up my own copy of a 70-200 f2.8 soon. cant decide if i want to pay a couple extra bucks and get IS. id use it occasionally but not often. definitely buying the lens used of course. im pretty much waiting to jump on an open box 70D if we get one and then if not ill buy new biggrin.gif
