Help with overclcoking

Thread Starter
Hi guys so im a total noob when it comes to OCing and id like to oc my msi hd 7750 OC edition which has:
830 mhz core clock
1125 mhz
also i have 4gb ddr3 ram with an amd phenom X4 b35 @ 2.90 ghz
so im looking to oc it just a bit, mby by 25 mhz or so just so itd be equal to the 6770 sooo im looking any tips, is it worth it, some software and so on...
also i was wondering if it could be inefficient because my pc has ventilation aside from the fabric one + fans on cpu / gpu, and is literally stuck between two walls.
i stress tested the card and it went from 35-40 C when idle to 55-60 when stressed.
aaand thats about it what do you think? oh and does my 4gb bottleneck the graphics card because i read somewhere that the recommended ram for the card is 6gb?
also do i lose my warranty if i do this?

As for software, for starters I would suggest downloading the latest MSi Afterburner BETA. Can be found here:

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm (second link on page)

No your ram should be fine for that card.

MSi Afterburner is a tool for overclocking your GPU. Once you have that downloaded and ready, let me know so we can continue.

Technically yes. As AMD does not want anyone to overclock their GPU since it's risking killing the card.

But I have seen many people where they have had there cards replaced via RMA with just returning the card at stock clocks.

+1 To the MSI Afterburner.

If your case is stuck between two walls, you may want to consider moving it to give it more airflow.

With the 7750, you should be able to OC much more than 25MHz without much problem. To use Afterburner, I would benchmark your card first and benchmark between every major step. Then, increase power tune to max. Then run Kombustor for a few minutes to check for overheating/instability. Then benchmark. If good, up the clocks, run Kombustor for a few minutes to check for overheating/stability. Continue to up the clocks until you can't. If it gets unstable and starts artifacting, up the voltage. If the temperature gets too high, reduce VCore, clocks, or Power Tune. Compare benchmarks. Let us know what you get!

This. As far as I can tell, there's no way of verifying OC. You'll be fine.

Ok, make sure you have it turned on and have the window open on your desktop.

Go ahead and go to the Settings button on the lower right. The menu settings should come up after that go to "User Interface" it's the last tab on the menu.

After under "user interface properties" click the skin option menu ans select "Default MSI Afterburner skin - Big Edition"

Basically go by this picture, BUT IGNORE CLOCKS for now. DO NOT copy my clocks. As I have a complete different card

ak59.jpg

Again ignore the clocks.

Can you provide a picture of your case and the inside showing airflow?

For now lets stick with baby steps.
