Dont look at 80 plus it does not tell you how good a PSU is or how well it was made

You can find crappy 80 plus gold units like the EVGA NEX and the Raidmax AE

Ok. I think I will skip the seasonic. I have been reading about FSP.
" FSP has been making power supplies
for about twenty years, but only in
the last ten has it sold any under
its own brand name." (quoted from a site) lol
I guess I can go with the FSP. However, should I buy a 650W instead of 550W. I mean I really hate to push my budget. Do you think 550w is enough for 4770k and something like HD 7970 (I won't get a 7970 anyway).

550w is overkill for a single video card build. in fact you can easily run SLi/xfire using a high quality 650w

Main problem with the FSP Aurum is it has a loud fan

And yes 550 watts is more then enough

Yeah though very few 550W units have both a 6+2-pin and a 6-pin PCI-E connector and you do want native cabling. Adapters should be avoided if at all possible. Also 650W units aren't usually that much more then the 550W units so IMO the 650W units tend to be better value for money and leave a lot of head room for future upgrades.

OH, don't get me wrong. personally i prefer seasonic biggrin.gif i'm STILL using my seasonic S12 from 2006 biggrin.gif i'm just giving support for FSP because i happen to know they are a good brand also. the OP isn't aware of the brand so i'm not going to color my statements due to personal bias smile.gif he asked if 550w is enough. and knowing FSP is a good quality brand, I simply told the truth that 550w is overkill for his purpose smile.gif

but as shilka pointed out, their fans tend to be on the aggressive side whereas seasonics are generally much more ear friendly.

Yes but like I was saying you want native cabling and if I'm not mistaken the FSP Aurum 550W 80 PLUS GOLD only has one 6+2 pin cable while a 7970 needs one 6+2 pin and one 6-pin and thus I would not recommend getting that particular PSU to run a 7970.

Edit: Actually I might be wrong about the FSP Aurum 550W 80 PLUS GOLD not having 2x 6+2 pin. I have to check that

Edit2: I can't seam to track down that particular model but FSP does seam to be quite generous with the connectors as the:

FSP Group AURUM GOLD 500W AU-500
FSP AURUM XILENSER 500W AU-500FLD
FSP AURUM S 500W

all have 2x 6+2-pin connector.
