Reccomend me a CPU and MOBO [Built! now a question...] - Page 2

Really? I've got a friend running it in one of his builds that's getting like 65C just pushing 4.2ghz on his 3570k, although his case wasn't the most ventilated.

Mine was push/pull with cougar vortex fans.

What does he do to reach 65C? Is that gaming or stress testing? Mine would hit high 80s stress testing but barely ever went above 70 while gaming.

It was normal gaming. On stress tests he was hitting the low 80s. Although he was using an old PoS case, one of those cream color ones. He thought it would be funny to have a good build in one of those old cases.

Haha nice. I have always thought that would be fun to do tongue.gif

Do you know what voltage he was using for his OC? I'm just curious because like I said I saw similar temps at 4.6/1.3v.

I'd just hunt down a used 2500k and save some cash. 2 things I don't like about Ivy. It runs hot and the improvement over Sandy is negligible.

The only place I've found a 2500k for cheaper than that 3570k is Microcenter, and they probably don't even have it in stock. Tigerdirect has it at $226, and Amazon is at $249. I'd stick with the 3570k imho, and I'm a huge fan of the 2500k, like I stated earlier, I'm still running a 2500k because I like it so much.

Hey all, the PC is up and running! My first build from scratch was 95% successful...

EXCEPT:
The 2 USB ports right next to the ethernet port do not work.. The 2 right above it do. Any ideas? I suspect power isnt flowing through them as they dont even light up my keyboard or mouse.
USB 3.0 drivers are up to date.
Mobo chipset is up to date.
