Single 240 RAD for GPU x 2 loop? (No CPU)

Thread Starter
Could not really find any info about a GPU x 2 loop without a CPU so trying my luck asking here thumb.gif

My CPU is already cooled by a H220 and i am going to DIY cool my two GTX 770s

Will a 240 rad be enough to cool both or would 2 x 120 rad be better so the liquid flows through another 120 rad before it goes into the second 770 block?

Since i prefer a single 240 rad i don't mind that a 120 x2 setup would cool better, if a single 240 rad is enough than its fine by my. rolleyes.gif

A single 240 mm rad would be better then 2 separate 120mm rads because you are going to have less pressure drop, as far as cooling goes as long as fin density and other factors are the same they would preform the same, you will save a couple dollars if you go with a 240 though as you would need 2 additional fittings if you go with 2 separate rads.

As far as the question if 240mm is enough surface space for 2 GPUs some will say it is, some will say to get 3 x 120mm. Having the extra surface area certainly wouldn't hurt but 240mm is enough for 2 gpus and some mild overclocks. IMO

You won't get much overclocking head room on a 240 with two gtx 770's, but it's enough for stock.

Hmm so basicly a WC setup with a single 240 rad is worse then air cooling?

240 + 120 is the way to go then?

No, even those CLC units modded onto a GPU do better then air coolers. A 240mm will be better than air, it may not be a lot better, or even justifiable from a performance standpoint but you will gain a lot in terms of acoustics. As mentioned though if you can squeeze another rad in there it would be a much better situation.

But the GTX 770s i have are already factory overclocked, by more then a mild overclock and the aircoolers on it do fine and keep it very cool. So if a 240 is only good for stock or mild overclock i will have a problem.

Reason why i am looking into WCooling them is because the cards have 3 slot coolers and it is too tight

EDIT

Maybe i will start with a 240 and 1 GPU to cool, can add the second later on if needed as only one of the cards has problems with the spacing.
Was just hoping to do both when i am going to do it, saves some effort in the future

Well decided to do both GPUs in a loop at once.

Will be using this 60mm thick RAD, hope it will be sufficient.

I think you'll be more than fine with what you have, enough for some good OC's too. I have a 3770k @4.7GHz and two 760's (EVGA super clocked) on a 360 rad, and i get awesome temps. 20 degrees lower than air for my GPU's
