A6-6400K Not Properly Recognized and Other Bugs

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,
I am using a Richland A6-6400K apu with an Asus F2A85-V PRO motherboard and the bios does not seem to want to detect its name. It detects it as some wacky line of characters. Some other issues I'm having are that i cannot raise memory frequency above 1600mhz and i get many different graphical glitches in games. Is this cpu not supported by the motherboard or is it defective. Any help with this would be much appreciated. I have included a picture of CPUz.

Thanks,

My first guess is updating your mobo BIOS.

It's possible that you have a defective Mobo or CPU =\...

So bios identifies the cpu the same as cpu-z?

Reseat the cpu yet?

Maybe check with AMD and make sure that there are not mulitple revisions/steppings of the cpu.
If there are then a new bios will likely be needed.

Just reseated the cpu and heatsink which is a hyper 212. Worst mounting system ever. With bolts tightened down as much as possible you can still twist it slightly.
