Not really, when you consider 13% sales tax. It matched anything you could get on Amazon pre-tax.

And if I tried buying it here (Mexico) it was about $1000 body only...so I'm glad I got it how I did.

mine was 520 with the kit lens, then i got the 55-300 and the 35 1.8 and i think the total was still below 1000 AUD which is worth less than USD.

It was only $1000 (after tax) because of a 32GB memory card and 3 lenses.

Really great. The pictures are massive, and when I do take a picture properly it comes out beautifully. Got some really nice depth-of-field effects. Haven't had an opportunity to actually use it, but within the year I hope to know the ins and outs of it and be able to take the best possible picture in every scenario.

The GUIDE setting is really handy. And the 55-300m lens is great.

speaking of massive pictures. you might not notice this right now but over time those huge pictures will slow down the card.

i have all my pictures saved at smallest setting pictures are 1-2MB. on high settings they are 6-8MB. when shooting rapid shots out of 5-10 shots you'd only keep 1 or 2. on high settings that's about 70MB of wasted space of pretty much a single shot.
