Are Any of You Investing in AMD? - Page 2

Purchasing single stocks as an investment is generally a bad idea. If you are just looking to do it for fun, sure, maybe you'll make a few bucks, but I wouldn't try it as a long term retirement plan.

Betting the bank on stocks for a retirement plan isn't a good idea, I agree. Not what I meant when I said long term.

There are much better ways to invest long term than cheap AMD stocks.

Yeah, it would just be short term. Never dabbled in stock trading before, and I think this will be a good way to get my toes wet without losing anything (so long as I withdraw at the right time).

Was strongly considering it with the announcements for next-gen consoles. And then they announced the 9590...

As long as you get out at the right time? You realize that if people "knew when the right time to get out" was, we would all be rich, right? Timing the stock market and playing around with single stocks is a horrible plan unless you are open to losing it all. You might as well go to a casino and gamble with the money you plan to buy stock with.
