GPU pin question

Thread Starter
Hello i just ordered a 7970 with a 6 pin and 8 pin connection

im on a 500w Powersupply which is the minimum requirement for the card

I have a 6+2 pin connector which branches off of another 6 pin connector which runs off one line from the PSU. Could i use both plugs even though they are off the same PSU run or is a one or the other type of deal?

Would it be better for me to buy a new PSU with a dedicated 6 pin and 8 pin with a line for each off the psu or can i use my existing PSU?

Thanks in advance!

Here is a picture of the 6 pin and 6+2 which comes out of the 6 pin

yes you are fine! allot of PSU's do that now !,
good luck

Ps - You might want to look for a PSU upgrade soon as that 500W will be under some stress!

Yes a lot do it, mine are like that but they do it at the beginning of the cables closer to the PSU.
