7950 idle temp - Page 2

Thread Starter
Just ran 3dmark 11 got a 10318... Good score?
1225/1450 @ 1.25v. Max temp 65 fan speed 60%. Vrm1 63 vrm2 59...don't seem too bad, but still want to idle at 45-47. Is there any way to make it idle lower? At idle it is at 500/1450 @ .974v. I tried putting a 80mm fan by the power connector blowing fresh air across the cards fans but that only brings it to 42.....

jelly, i read sometime ago that when 2 or more monitors are used the gpu does not really go down to its orig idle state, thus the temp will 'normally' be higher. unplug one of your monitors, if you want to test. make sure you view GPUz first and prolly take a screenshot. compare that after unplugging the other.

edit: with one monitor, the 7950 should read 300/150 in GPUz.

This is correct. When running multiple monitors, the card wont go down to "bare-bones" idle. It's just the way it is. Only thing I can say is either deal with the higher idle temps, or depending on your case, slap a intake fan on the bottom.

I added a fan on the bottom of my case and my idle dropped form 50c to 44c with GPU fans at 45%.

No. Only the idle-state is changed in multi monitor setup.
