TBPs Favorite Underrated/Old/Obscure Games - Page 3

The Sytem Shocks games are copyrighted and owned by someone.
Bioshock that is coming out is the "spiritual" successor to System Shock 2. It's being made by the same people. They tried to get the rights to system shock, but couldn't. there is a group of people that were working on updating system shocks 2's graphics. They didn't do a bad job considering the engine they had to work with.

Actually, you'll find alot of different groups working on updates to old games. Not only making the game playable on xp, but also adding new textures and stuff.

There was a game called "Stunts", it was sort of like atari's race driving game. You could make different tracks and share them.
The X-wing & Tie fighter games were some of my favorites also. Why lucas arts can't make a modern xwing game is beyond me.

I can't remember the names of some of the games I used to play back on my XT compatable computer (CGA graphics). There was a few really good ones that wasn't that popular.

But the X-com games rocked when they came out.
Of course, nethack was always a favorite.
oh, and Road Rash for the Amiga. It was the best version of the game, in my opinion. Even better then the psx version that came out.
Oh, and Immortal, that was a pretty cool Isometric view game.

I've been slowly working on making an old gaming machine. I have a ****load (probably close to 50) of 3d cards from the mid 90's. all voodoo's up to 3, older ati's, older Nvidias, PowerVR, think I even have a permedia card also.
Think I have a Pentium computer that's working, and also have a few PII's I could use.
I figured if I made a decent gaming machine out of it, I could probaly just give it to some low income family.

I also have almost every game that was released during the 90's also.

my favorite old game was operation flashpoint. it was like bf2 but harder and better. one game could last hours and hours, even with a full team on a LAN party...

Descent was kind of like a flight sim FPS adventure hybrid-ish game.

The Delta Forces were ahead of their time I think: now you see games that are "realistic" where you aren't a super-soldier and can be killed with a couple of shots. Delta Force had all of that. Plus it was probably the first true FPS I played.

And I think that Starcraft and Half-Life were popular for a reason. SC was one of the first and still best balanced asymmetrical RTSes.

Shadowrun, Colonization, Dragonslayer the old one. one of the first CD-Rom games ever, Rise of the triad, Lords of the realm, Defender of the Crown, and too many more for me to think about.
