Worth using a 3.5mm headset/headphone+mic with my sound card

Thread Starter
I'm using a Creative XtremeGamer and am wondering if it would be worth replacing my USB headset and getting a 3.5mm headset all you audiophiles are constantly raving about.

purely being 3.5mm isn't going to make it a good set of cans but if you were to upgrade, I would definitely go that route.

There are bad 3,5mm headphones too, but the price/SQ is better with normal 3,5mm headphones than with USB. Mostly because the USB-headphones are "gamer-branded" the quality is pretty shabby (all gamer-headphones are pretty shabby in general).

Part of the money used for making the USB-headphones go to the soundcard inside the headphones (and the quality is usually not-too-great).

Yep, is definitely better to buy a regular 3.5mm headphone/headset. There's more room for improvement.
