So I'm looking to upgrade from my MSI TF3 6950 PE/OC and I have don't even have a clue as to where to start. Any ideas?

Gaming mostly. I've just got back into gaming community and was weighing my options. I haven't ramped it up at all, either. Should probably do that before shelling out for a new gpu..

If you prefer AMD, it would be wise to wait until 8000 series will be released. Otherwise depending on your screen resolution go with gtx 760 or 770.

if you need more performance go for the Sapphire HD 7950 boost . at average overclocks of 1100 - 1150 mz , HD 7950 will be close to 80 - 100% faster than the performance of the HD 6950 OC / HD 6970.

IIRC AMD is OEM'ing the 8000 series for desktops (store bought) if I'm not mistaken, so the 9000 series is what will be coming out to the mainstream public.
