Some random questions about cooling

Hi,

I'm about to build a new gaming computer using the Fractal Design Define XL R2 case. The components are not buyed yet, but I have some questions about the cooling ?

First, do you know if a Corsair H100i will fit in the Fractal Design Define XL R2 case ? If yes, will it be possible to do a push/pull configuration ?

Second, what fans would you recommend to replace the stock 140mm fans of the Define XL and the stock 120mm fans of the H100i ?

I looked on Newegg.ca and I and I found these fans that seemed to have good feedbacks.

Aerocool Shark 140 (also avaible in 120mm):

Prolimatech Blue Vortex 140 (also avaible in 120mm):

Bitfenix Spectre Pro 140 (also avaible in 120mm):

Cougar Vortex HDB 140 (also avaible in 120mm):

First of all, welcome to OCN wave2.gif

In the Image below you shall find a H100i in PUSH with quite a bit of clearance, which should allow for PUSH/PULL with 25mm fans.

For replacement H100i fans I would definitely recommend the sold Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15 fans, excellent performers, at a low noise and price.

For replacement 140mm fans I'm not as sure but Akasa Viper 140mm fans are also solid performers, someone else may be able to offer a better choice here though.

The H100 will fit in the case but not in push/pull i think.

The aerocool sharks are quiet when you use them with the speed reducers but are loud at 12v, the prolimatech fans are suppose to be good. the bitfenix fans preform awful and are loud, the cougar fans can be hit or miss really I have heard mix responses about them.

Fans for the H100 can be the 120 variants of the good fans you suggested ( the aerocool sharks and Prolimatech), nexus basics, the XSPC fan, yate loons and gentle typhoons are all good fans.

I would avoid noctua they are overate and loud from the reviews I have seen and personal experience of them.

What about the Thermalright X-Silent fans in 120mm size and 140mm size ? I just saw that video from Linus Tech Tips on YouTube and the fan in 140mm size seems very good.

They're quiet because they don't move much air.

Forget about the Thermalright ones. I can't find any in Canada. I need to buy my fans on Newegg.ca. So, which ones are the best again ? What do you think of the Enermax TB Silence in 120mm size and 140mm size ? They have very good feedback actually.
