Dxtory - all games run in slow motion when I start recording.

Basically what the title says.

For some reason with Dxtory my games will lag when I hit record? I guess you could call it lag. What happens is it just runs in slow motion. Like the whole game slows down. This shows up in the recording of course as well. (I tried to upload a 1 minute clip of it but for some reason YouTube says "Failed (unable to convert video file" even though it's just AVI...another problem entirely I guess. They just don't end)

This doesn't seem to be a common issue. My settings in dxtory are pretty standard. I'm using the dxtory codec, running on low quality capturing 30fps at 1080p. Here's the thing though. Even if I turn it down to capture a 360p video the lag/slowdown whatever is the EXACT same. And checking task manager shows my cpu usage is pretty low when recording and ram usage is only a 2 of my 4 gig.

Also, I tried every other codec. They all seem to have an issue. Either this one, or it will only capture a couple frames a second if i'm lucky or the video will have a tonne of artifacts and be unwatchable.

I've been trying to weeks to get a good screen recording setup working, seriously....I'm almost to the point of tearing my hair out. So many wasted hours. I don't understand. My computer should be able to handle this fine. Lots of PCs with worse specs can.

So any advice would be appreciated.

Hello,

I use the lagarith Lossless codec, and Ive never really had any problems recording HD (after rending it with Vegas) I just cant upload 35 GB movies to youtube lol....use only the 30 frames a second thow. Trust me, its not going to make your video look bad. Its the norm of what ppl usually record and upload at.

not done in hd, would take me too much time.

My guess , It looks like your trying to run an OS/game and record at the same time off of that (5400rpm) F4 hard drive.

I think it´s recommended to record your games on a different HD than your OS drive.. .

Yep,I think you have to have a benchmark of at least 80mb's/sec for HD.

I tried that lossless codec, actually. I was getting the exact same problem.
Also, I was benchmarking over 100mbps according to the dxtory benchmark. It is a 5400RPM drive but i'm pretty sure other people can do HD on these drives. The throughput of the drive is enough that it should be able to handle it...in fact, case in point: I have been trying Mirillis Action and I can do HD on that no problem. In fact. No lag or anything. I think i'm good to just settle with that. I was just keen on getting dxtory to work. Still weird it doesn't.
