Hi,

I'm planning to buy a new gaming computer very soon and I want your comments on that build. The price is 1700$ on Newegg Canada. Here are the parts:


Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 (w/ replaced 3x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition fans)


CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K Haswell 3.5 GHz


Cooler: Corsair H100i (w/ replaced 4x Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition fans in push/pull configuration)


MB: Gigabyte Z87-D3HP


GPU: Gigabyte N770 GTX "Windforce" 2 GB


PSU: Corsair HX 750W


HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB @ 7200 RPM


SSD: Samsung 840 Basic 120 GB


RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 8 GB @ 1600 MHz

Well, the PSU is major overkill, but otherwise I think this build is ok.

It's a computer!

You should change the SSD to a Samsung 840 Pro.

Motherboard is kind of meh, would go for the ASRock Z87 Extreme4 instead for that price because it has more features. PSU is definitely overkill, Seasonic 550W G Series or Rosewill Capstone. SSD also isn't a good value, you can get a SanDisk Extreme SSD for that price but it's as fast as the 840 Pro's. Lastly, a CORSAIR Vengeance LP 8GB kit runs about $75 you can get a G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB 2133MHz kit for the same price.
