Zorin OS, steam install 404

Thread Starter
I just installed Zorin OS on my computer (not the one in my signature) and it's working alright except when I try to download steam from the software center it gives me an error that says "Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/c/curl/curl_7.22.0-3ubuntu4.1_amd64.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.201 80]"

Before you say to download steam from the steampowered website, when I launch the .deb package it just opens it in the software center and gives the same error. This only happens with steam, no other app from the software center.

The problem isn't with steam, that URL is looking for curl.

Try the following in a terminal
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install curl

Then try to install steam.

Thank you. +rep for sure.

edit: FINALLY windows-free forever! Zorin OS has enabled me to do things I didn't know were possible.

you can also download the .deb file from Steam's website and install it with gdebi or the software center, but it looks like you got it taken care of already. You "may" need to install 32bit system files ... sometimes I have to do this sometimes I don't. You will also benifit from installing the proprietary drivers for whatever video card you use.

Since he's not using vanilla Ubuntu, I'd probably recommend he stick to the repos.
