Any hope for a way to fix an artifacting 7970 that cannot be RMA'd or returned? - Page 4

Did you bought it from amazon? If yes then you still can return it and get a refund. If no the good luck.

I agree with BIGMAC...this seems like a software problem. If it was hardware then dx9 should artifact also.

QUESTION:
Have you run dxdiag?

I would open a support ticket with AMD via their website. They have provided me with excellent help in the past.

It's not software, explain my current 7970 running perfectly fine with current software etc etc.

Like I said before, I already tried everything software wise, various drivers, tweaks and loops you can think of. This is hardware related.

Great solution. He has a GPU problem, so he should just move to a different country. rolleyes.gif

He's in a country he can't RMA from, and made that very clear in the OP. Yet people still tell him to RMA it... I think his response was completely appropriate, and wasn't even very rude considering.

Anyways I don't think you have too many options. Try using the card as the only one in the PC (take your other 7970 out), and do the voltage increase. If that does help, you might be able to flash the BIOS to have a higher voltage, so using both cards won't be a problem.

If you're going to toss it, you may as well try the longshot baking. I mean at that point it can't hurt, and is has permanently fixed cards before.

He's also made that very clear in the OP, so I'm quite surprised he hasn't lashed out at you. rolleyes.gif

Which is why I offered it as slightly better then throwing the card in the trash tongue.gif

It annoys me when people skim a thread then throw out a reply that clearly can't help. If you knew of a way for someone in a country outside of what's covered under the warranty to RMA without costing more then the card is worth, I'm sure he'd be open to hearing that.

I would try just changing the thermal paste first myself. I bought a used card that ran crazy hot (over 105*C) and it turned out the cooler was LOOSE. I put IC Diamond on it and installed the cooler snug and it dropped almost 40*.
