Overclocking with Asrock 970 extreme4

Hey guys,
I've recently gotten around to overclocking my Cpu, which is an AMD phenom x4 965 BE. I have gotten stable overclocks up to about 4ghz so far in Amd overdrive(my 500w power supply will likely be an issue with anything higher than that). So with that info I went into the bios to set the overclock but the problem is that after I save the bios settings and boot up the overclock is not applied. Any ideas?
I'm running Windows 7.

Fill in your sig rig. What gpu are you using? Power may not be that much of an issue.

Is your voltage still set to auto? You should find out what voltage it was running through AMD Overdrive and set that as well in the bios.

No, in the bios i set all overclock and voltage settings to manual.

I am assuming you did a multiplier change right? Not increase your FSB to get the 4GHz speed?

That is correct. I have only increased the multiplier up to 20 so far. I ran prime 95 after that and got a blue screen right after starting. I would like to overclock from the bios, as that is the way to do it and I am still having the same issue. When I boot up after adjusting the bios settings it seems to load the default clock and voltage settings(3.4 ghz and 1.35v)
