In the past 4 yearsI had
- 2 x HD 5850
- 1 x HD 5870
- 3 x HD 6970
- 6 x HD 7970
All these cards were great and without issues, drivers sucked only for the Trifire 2 x 5850 + 5870. The rest was awsomly fine, no stuttering with Quad HD 7970 at all like all over-exagerated reviews mention it. I had 6 x Reference HD 7970 and best cards I had with past 2012 generation.I also had
- 8800GTX OC2
- GTX 680
- GTX 780
All these cards were awsome too, no drivers issue at all (didn't sli though) . The 8800GTX was drool worthy, the GTX 780 is also a precious jewel, I had so much fun with it and the GTX 680 is also nice, just less performant and weaker than all the HD 7970 I had. The overclocking potential was much better with the HD 7970. Had a couple of driver issues recently but nothing to worry about, 320.18 never killed my card and I doubt it would. Rumors
I don't really like the adaptive V-sunc of Nvidia but you can easily modify it in the Nvidia control panel.
Honestly, for the past 4 years, I was really pleased with both companies.
Thumbs up to them.
No problem bro
I was an ATi fanboy in my first year or so here. I had 3870, PoS but that was just due to the crappy MSI design.
Reference 4890s CF, loud, flash issues on YT, intermittent crashing in Vista (also OS problem partly). CF 5850s Reference I had them too, GSOD fest and crappy scaling.
No worries about AMD only though, the 285 was low quality garbage as well (couldn't cope with AA despite being "the fastest GPU on the planet" and was power hungry, overclocked and scaled like crap).
IMO if you need to compromise stability, experience and reliability it's low quality and the scale at which it happens can make it garbage or expensive paperweight if you prefer that term.
G92 didn't have bad solder that were the G80 and GT200 dies. G92 was fine, can always die of course.
It also depends on what you do with the cards. I can't be bothered to have a hit and miss experience with drivers at this point though.
