Get another 600 series card or hop to the 700 series?

Thread Starter
It's been a month since I sold my GTX 670 which you see in my build below, since then I have been waiting on 2 different Retailers for different cards to come back in stock, with both letting me down

with a fresh mind I have been browsing for cards I could buy and 2 have taken my fancy

it may be a the 600 series but its the EVGA 680 classified 4gb here it is

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-194-EA

the second card is the inno3d which im not sure on the manufacturer

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-015-IN&campaign=pcm/psmido-couk

which has more power, best overclocker etc etc

Definitely go with the 680 Classified. The 680 and the 770 are basically identical in performance at the same speeds but the 680 has significantly more overclock potential due to having 14 power phases versus only 6 for the 770 you posted. It also has higher quality vrm components and it is a binned chip which means it can be overclocked further and it will run cooler when pushed to the limit. You can also flash a 770 bios to the 680 so you basically have all the new features of the 7xx series on a more powerful, capable card. Here is some more info on that:

The EVGA Classified might have more power, its the top of the line EVGA 680 and possibly the fastest 680 on air there is....

In most reviews ive seen, the 770 is faster than a 680, however that's comparing stock reference to stock reference, the Classified is overclocked well, and it has double the VRAM (Which I recommend).

They are the same price, so really, think about what your next upgrade is going to be, are you going to only ever run a single card and upgrade every few years?

Or would you likely SLI it soon? (Both will be available and the 680 could be even cheaper)

Or SLI in say a year or two? (680 might not be available then)

I dont think I will be going down the SLI route I would just like to stick to a single card to be honest, also Dizzz that post looks cool but doesn't look like its set in stone, also this is a 4gb model so I don't know how they would implement, or if it would cause any issues

Suitable memes are OK in regular threads, but no memes allowed in the news area.
