HIS Iceq 6970 Turbo 2GB

Thread Starter
I'm about to trade 2 ATi Radeon 7770's for this card. I have seen a couple of reviews on it and everyone says it's a great card, but I can't really find any benchmarks on it. So I guess I have two questions:

Is this a reasonable trade

Can anyone find benchmarks on this

Thanks

not a good trade. i advise against going for HD 6970. its based on 40nm . uses more power and runs hotter. vliw4 architecture in hd 6970 is not as good as GCN architecture found in HD 7000 cards. tesselation and compute performance is weak in HD 6000 series.

the HD 7770 cards can be sold for usd 80 each. you will have to spend USD 50 - 100 to get a faster single GPU. HD 7870 for USD 200 - 210 or HD 7950 boost for USD 270 are good options.

Here are some benches and comparisons between HD 6970 and HD 7770. Honestly, 2x HD 7770 in xfire are worse in shear experience when playing games. To make it easier for you, I will create a pros and cons list.

HD 6970
Pros
-- 2GB memory
-- 256 bit bus width
-- Single GPU high-end
-- Higher quality components
-- No crossfire issues

Cons
-- Higher TDP vs 1 HD 7770
-- little hotter running.
-- GCN vs vliw4 architecture. (Anandtech covers it really good)

HD 7770
Pros
-- Lower TDP
-- newer architecture
-- 28nm
-- cooler running.

Cons
-- low-end card
-- slower
-- 1GB memory
-- 128 bit bus width
