Local Web Business

Thread Starter
Trying to look for a host that would be easy and fast to setup. I can do some coding but would prefer it to keep it light. Here is what I'll need this host to do.

1) Allow users to join with secure password and make payments to each other that are tracked and secure. I don't mind using paypal for the payments.

2) End users will need to be able to make post with images and short videos. Ranking system that checks to see rather or not you can apply and an automatic close once a certain objective has been met.

3) Blogs for end users to setup with uploading of documents that relates to the site topic.

4) The basics: Domain, hosting, etc.

I don't know if it would be possible to make a site on a place like wordpress or squarespace and add a forum to it from another place. I know I'm all over the place but I'm trying to work to get things more focused and on the way to actually building something.

You would definitely want something for a provider which offers some kind of development support. Square space might be good for you. Also, 1-3 are software dependent and not really host related. A web host is typically just infrastructure, storage and bandwidth access. Any features you want on your site are all dependent on the code you use. Sounds like you might need to get someone or a company to develop your site software. Based on your requirement it could get expensive quickly. Also check your business model. Are you going to be like a paypal escrow service? If you are you need to think about fraud prevention. If you are just going to let users transfer to each others accounts then there would be no way for you to keep transaction details from paypal. The rest are easy and could be done with wordpress and some mods. Request #1 is the one that could end up being expensive.
