This story is steering me away from purchasing a Maximus Hero. Might just go with Gigabyte, I can't handle an RMA process. sad-smiley-002.gif

Hah, I'm sure that your RMA will go just fine!

As for my Z77, it's great. The only thing I am curious about is why my 2nd CPU fan doesn't show its RPM in my hardware monitors. Other than that, the board is great. I'm actually liking the features of the IGPU and using that Lucid Virtu MVP not for the virtual vsync so much, but rather, for the ability to force some older games to run on the IGPU and save a ton of heat generation by not thrashing my GTX.

Also, the board overclocks like an absolute champ. I managed to get 5.3 GHz on my 2500K on air... No joke, where before I could only squeak out 4.9 GHz with higher voltages.

(I'm down at 4.7 GHz again right now, with a very mild 0.020 offset and a medium LLC.)

I'm happy with the new board. :)
