I suggest you play each one for a week, back to back, and you will find they are extremely different.
There are so many game mechanics in Diablo 3 that absolutely killed it for me. Its an RPG, yet you don't actually choose the stats for your character. The skill system is a joke. There is no skill tree. You can only have like 5 skills active at a time. Character mana resources are extremely limited unless you create a builds that focuses on RNG crits to regenerate those pools. Those builds are entirely gear dependent. If Blizzard nerfs that build, which they have nerfed many things, then you have to completely regear your character. The game looks like a cartoon. You can't switch between acts in a game. Its a game that is centered around grinding, yet makes every attempt to make that grinding a PITA. Nearly every single character aspires to carrying giant swords regardless of their class.
And the thing that bugs me the most about D3, spell cool downs. What idiot thought that made for fun gameplay mechanics?
