I think you got a heat issue. Remove all the black epoxy before collecting it again. The epoxy might prevent your from seating the IHS properly/close to the chip, and because of that you get instant heat issues. Remove it all so it is totally clean. Afterwards use a piece of tape or something underneath the IHS to give it the very tine space it needs to be effective. You can use a plastic card to gently peel it off. You have to clean it of both IHS and the chip.

Is it critical that it is Liquid Pro? I wondered about the "conductive" qtuestion too, but then stopped worrying when I read somewhere about MX2 that it was conductive, but the source might be wrong and I'm clueless as to these differences as well.
I just ordered some just to stay straight for next time.
I'll clean the chip up today, reassemble and see what happens.
