[Seeking Alpha] Intel confirms 14nm production by the end of 2013 / Core launch by H1 2014 - Page 7

The reason why I think that while Broadwell will most probably see the light of day on Desktops in 2014 (I still don't see compelling arguments that would avoid it), I also don't see a reason for it to be released before at least September or min August 2014:

The current state of releases of Intel process nodes. The last few of them:

One can easily see that there is a relative consistency of staying on a node before releasing another:

Now if I hypothetically release Broadwell on March, look at how steep it will be:

It doesn't make much sense and it would be leaving Haswell little time in the market (at least compared to previous releases):

Now if I instead 'release' Broadwell in October 2014 it seems fitter for the purpose:

Though I guess it could theoretically be even sooner. (August?)

Isn't 2014 the year of Haswell refresh?

And Boardwell due at 2015?

Edit: Are we talking about mobile or desktop?

That was only a roumor from that VRzone chinese site that so many seem to blindly reproduce without cross-referencing it with anything. For reasons I have explained in this thread, I see it pointless for Intel to sit on a huge 14nm industry of cheap and fast chips and release nothing for the mainstream desktop with it for more than a year.

There's a lot of soucres that claim a haswel refresh in 2014 and a boradwell launch in 2015 for desktops. Broadwell released shortly after Haswell-E.

That's all the same rumour. It was never confirmed, Intel never confirmed it, nobody double sourced it to a second source like an actual journalist, and Intel only confirmed a week ago that there will be Core 14nm products in 2014.

My personal opinion is that it's absolutely absurd that intel will sit on a 14nm industry that produces cheaper and faster chips and do absolutely nothing for the mainstream desktop with it for more than 1 year.

And the cherry on top of the rumour is that they will return to the 'regular' way they do things 2 years later and regularly just do Skylake (after maybe using only -E editions for the mainstream). If the rumour had any merit, they would at least stick with it for the long run.
