Moar Lights!

Hello people!

I've just moved into my new Corsair Obsidian 800D. I've installed a few case mods, including the NZXT HUE RGB LED Controller. I love it very much, and it performs. The only thing is I've never found any light mods that really give the POWER LIGHT I'm looking for. So straight to the point; I need to know if the controller is giving enough ampere to hook up another light cable (order another controller, and use the cable to extend the current cable).

Thanks for reading smile.gif

Well if the controller is hooked up to a single Sata power connector it could theoretically be using either 3.3V , 5V or 12V to power the led's, all of which what I have read have a 1.5 amps max per pin, which is using all 3 pins you would have 4.5 amps available to your led system. It says that the strip that is included contains 24 leds, which at the highest power usage, from what I understand would be 60 mAh a piece which would be 1.440 amps. So it is within the realm of possibility of being maxed out.

Thus being said there are many way's that led power consumption changes, color, pattern, multiplexing, ect. It's also completely within the realm of possibility that you could add in a few more strips, its really impossible to know unless you are looking at a diagram of the circuit with all the specifications of the electronic components in the system.

I don't really think anyone can give you a definitive answer on it other than the EE that designed the circuit, I think the best you are going to get is that someone tried it and it worked or tried it and it didn't work.

I will be switching to a smaller case now anyways, so I can probably go nearly two rounds in it tongue.gif But yea, I don't doubt the possibility, could just try if I wanted to. It was just that I didn't want to waste the money if it wasn't possible x)
