The way this review works(as explained by the author in the article's comment section) is Tom's hardware email all the air cooler makers to ask who want to participate and ask them to send over the Cooler they want to compete with, Noctua sent the NH-U14S instead of NH-D14, Thermalright sent the Archon SB-E over Silverarrow/Silverarrow SB-E Extreme.

Silverstone sent Argon AR01 over heligon he01, Akasa & Cooler master probably didn't respond this time(they were included last time Tom's had a 14 Air cooler competition)

Well, Thermalright also didn't send their big guns: they sent Archon SB-E over Silverarrow SB-E extreme.

Maybe these companies saw Tom's asking for 1150 coolers and send their midrange products over their Flagships? Of all the big cooler companies, only Phantek sent over their Flagship Cooler(14PE).

This is what I was thinking. My DH14 has been simply awesome.

I see that most of them are single towers, but the Assassin or whatever isn't.

Although I do question the statement that 4.5+ ghz on air is rare... I mean, really? Mine runs at 4.5 ghz all day long and stays fairly cool, as in under 65c. I suspect I could do 4.8 if I knew more about the process - but then I don't have a 4770k, rather a 3770k.

The DH14 would have won anyway, not really something we don't know.

I'm disappointed that Thermalright didn't send the Silver Arrow SB-E / SB-E Extreme.
