TV as PC Monitor tell me why or why not

Thread Starter
So a few years back I plugged my comp into my LCD TV just to see how it looked and to my surprise the brightness and everything looked fantastic. So I see so many people with 1080p for their gaming resolutions on here and that's pretty standard for LCD TV's I have to ask why not just use a TV at this point? LCD Monitors are so ridiculously expensive and LCD TV's are pretty reasonable. If you are going to run it at 1080p why not? Obviously xbox and playstations run on TV's just fine why can't a TV substitute a monitor? Is it marketing junk? The LCD big boys got in trouble a few years ago for price fixing and typically there is a much higher demand for TV's to show off their colors then joe blow on the computer.

IIRC if the tv is under 27in you won't be able to get one that that is 120 hz. Having said that, I don't see why not but you may want to sit a little further back if your using a 47in tv.
